So you have been to Bali a bunch of times, New Zealand, even Las Vegas for your mates bucks…. But when was the last time you took a few weeks off and drove around Australia?

Recently, FREEDOM was lucky to score loan of a Motor Home from probably Australia’s coolest company – WICKED CAMPERS.

Famous for having obscene and crazy cool artwork on their Vans, they definitely turn heads but are also very comfy and perfect for your next kitesurfing getaway.

“The Camper Vans from Wicked are perfect for a surfing/kite trip. For starters, they are a lot cheaper than the fancy looking campers but also being a little older your not as paranoid about a small scratch here and there inside and out. Our particular Van came with a permanent marker in the glove box and a sign saying use me… scribbled travel tales (and the occasional proud dick artwork) covered the interior, doors to ceiling!.

We found despite the Van being late 90’s model that it still ran like a dream. The mechanics at Wicked must be excellent as everything worked 100% and was overall a very comfy ride. There is a roadside assistance number you can ring if you need and the staff are super friendly.

The layout of the Camper Van is very logical and a great setup overall. Plenty of storage for gear, a very functional back door kitchen and pretty comfy bed. (You need your own bedding).

There’s a range of different models available, we found this particular model (The Zephyr) perfect as it had a very handy rooftop balcony for arvo beers and also as a storage bay great for boards and for drying wetsuits.

We travelled from Brisbane down the East Coast – somehow managing to miss the swell and wind but still seeing some amazing places and potential setups for next time. Eventually getting to Merimbula, where the wind howled for the mighty Merimbula Wave Sailing Classic!
